Freight containers are generally manufactured to a modular specification; normally 20' (6 metre) or 40' (12 metres) long with some at 45' (13.7 metres).

 

The width is either 8' (2.44m) and the height 8'6" (2.59m). These dimensions are nominal, external and may vary slightly by manufacturer. The tables below give a more detailed breakdown of standard, General Purpose equipment.
