It is not necessary for the receiving premises to have cranage as
containers ordered for placement within the United Kingdom are routinely
delivered by self off-loading vehicles. However, the site has to be
accessible by the delivering Heavy Goods Vehicle. This means that there
should be enough manoeuvring space to park the vehicle adjacent to where the container is to be placed. The ground will also need to have a good
hard-standing surface. It is essential that there are no overhead
obstructions at the premises to impede the crane operation.

It is also advisable that the container is placed on level ground to avoid "racking". In other words if the ground is uneven, the container will find its own level - which may mean it twists along the length. As the two end doors fit in the square of the end frame any distortion may mean that the doors are very difficult to open and close. |
